Michelle Obama showed her good taste and love for fashion during her husband's campaign, and as she became America's fist lady yesterday she proved how stylish she is, one again. During the 2-day ceremony she chose outfits from reknown fashion designers, such as Narcisso Rodriguez but also from breakthrough designers. Still, more than the designer's names it was the outfits' elegance and sophistication that struck. Isabel Toledo, a Cuban-American designer was the day-outfit's designer, while the white, one-shoulder gown embellished with silver thread and rose appliqué, Mrs Obama wore in the evening was designed by 26-year old Jason Wu (The Taiwan-born designer is based in New York and has been in the fashion industry just three years).
Her choice of designers could also be seen as the Obamas showing their support to minorities and helping them promote and develop their work in the USA.
In France, Ségolène Royal, ex-candidate for France's presidency joked saying "I inspired Obama for his campaign". Well, Michelle Obama could be said to have been inspired by Mrs Royal too as both have seen the press talk about their outfits more than their ideas!
