1st day of Paris's fashion week and 1st suprise: the sobriety of Galliano's designs for Dior.
No more bling-bling, no more shows on the catwalk, no more Wonderland decors...Is it the end of an era? Dior unveiled the French Fashion Week in a near austerity feeling, models were cold beauties from the North, inspired by Flemish spirit and Vermeer's paintings. For this season, there was no spectacular show, only a simple catwalk under a tent at the Musée Rodin.
Crazy hair, full skirts with waves folding fabrics cascading in soft colours such as pink, lavender or peach. All were cinched at the waist and bows were present on every outfit.
Sleeves weren 't kept simple either with their architectural forms and hats were big and decorated with feathers and worn on the side. Each and every silhouette takes your breath away, especially towards the end of the show where petticoats come out of the obscenely long dresses and are decorated in what can be seen as red and gold tapestry and given a touch of luxury with a few rows of beaded necklaces.
The show was named "Plus Dior que Dior" and models paraded on Carla Bruni's song "Quelqu'un m'a dit que tu m'aimais encore" (somebody told me you still loved me), and yes, of course, more than ever, we still adore Dior.

How do you think Galliano fits in the world of fashion right now? is he still relevant? Does he still command his place at the top of the fashion tree or are consumers moving on? What do you think?
